Tamar House is a purpose built home providing exceptional levels of residential care on the Northern edge of Plymouth.

Built in 1987, this two-storey building is conveniently located in Derriford, close to the hospital, transport routes and other amenities.

Tamar House provides a caring home for 29 residents who all enjoy their own private rooms. The vast majority of rooms have private en-suite toilet facilities, with bathing, showering and further toilet facilities being conveniently located on each floor. There are a number of comfortable communal areas for residents and a welcoming dining room on the ground floor. Tamar House is fully accessible to service users with physical disabilities with a lift, and a stair lift, between floors.

A Message from our manager - Jessie Hawker

I have dedicated my career to the care sector since leaving school, driven by a genuine passion for supporting and improving the lives of others, particularly older people.

Over the past ten years, I have progressed through a variety of roles, gaining extensive experience and developing the leadership skills that have led me to my current position as a Registered Manager.

My knowledge of CQC standards and compliance is extensive, supported by a range of relevant qualifications and ongoing professional development. I take great pride in fostering a positive, person-centred culture within my teams—one that promotes dignity, respect, and high-quality care.

I am deeply committed to continuous improvement and learning, always seeking new opportunities to enhance both my own skills and the standards of care provided.

I am very much looking forward to this next chapter at Tamar House and to working collaboratively with the dedicated team already in place to ensure the highest standards of care for our residents.

As availability of rooms is limited, we strongly advise making an enquiry well in advance of when the need is likely to arise.

Making an enquiry now would enable us to help with any questions that you may have in advance and reduce the time that we need to complete your application.
